As we know, Wing Bowl is held on Friday morning every year. Well this year, St. Joseph’s Preparatory High School is taking action to prevent students from being “sick” on Friday to attend Philadelphia’s biggest party of the year.
“Wing Bowl 22 will be held on Friday, January 31; please note that date is a regular day of school and should be treated as such,” Albert Green, Dean of Students at St. Joe’s Prep wrote in a letter to the student body. “I realize that some of your sons will decide otherwise but I want to make sure you understand the consequences involved for him not attending school on the referenced date.”
Green went on to state consequences for students who miss school on Friday.
“As per the Student Directives, any student who does not come to school on Friday may not attend or participate in any school related activities that day. If your son attempts to attend a school function on Friday (including Night of Scenes) without attending school, he will be removed from the event and serve an in-school suspension on Monday, February 3.”
“Any senior who is absent on Friday will also be ineligible to attend Senior Day at the amusement park on Friday, May 16,” Green wrote. “Excused absences for January 31 will only be granted if the parent produces a doctor’s note or verification of a college visit. If you have questions about this policy, please do not hesitate to contact me.”
Lastly, if St. Joe’s Prep students are going to be legitimately absent on Friday, Greene wrote you will need, not only a doctor’s note, but a phone call to the Dean’s Office.
